Livia Schweizer
PERFORMER, FLUTIST
Italian-Swiss flutist Livia Schweizer (b.1994) is is a flutist, improviser, educator, and artistic researcher based in Helsinki. After studying at the conservatory in Livorno, Italy, she moved to Helsinki to study at the Sibelius Academy with Mikael Helasvuo. As a versatile freelancer, Livia has performed with groups like Korvat Auki, Avanti, Eloa, Suut Ensemble and she has performed at festivals such as Luosto Soi, Hiljaisuus Festival, Helsinki Festival, Jauna Muzika (Lithuania), Suoni Inauditi (Italy), SoundScapes Berlin (Germany), and Musica Nova Helsinki.
Schweizer is a music educator at the International School of Helsinki and a doctoral candidate at the Sibelius Academy, where she is researching how non-conventional notation can be used as a medium to foster intercultural collaboration a community led projects in contemporary music. Her flute teachers have been Mauro Rossi, Mikael Helasvuo, Hanna Kinnunen, Jim Walker and Jari Puhakka for the baroque flute.

Lucy Abrams-Husso
PERFORMER, CLARINETIST
Lucy Abrams-Husso (USA/FIN) is a Chicago native based in Helsinki, Finland since 2013. Formerly Co-principal and E-flat clarinetist of the Oulu Symphony, Lucy is a freelance clarinetist and music researcher specializing in orchestral and contemporary music. She has performed with numerous orchestras in Finland including the Helsinki Philharmonic, Finnish Radio, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Lahti Symphony, Turku Philharmonic, and Pori Sinfonietta and in the Finnish contemporary music scene performing with the Earth Ears Ensemble and previously with both the Defunensemble and Uusinta Ensemble.
She received Bachelors degrees with High Honors in Clarinet Performance and Anthropology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Music degree in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music. She completed a second Master of Music (2016) and her Doctor of Music (2024) from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. Lucy’s research on contemporary music has been funded by the Jenni and Antti Wihuri Foundation, the Finnish Cultural Foundation, and the Emil Aaltonen Foundation.

Helga Karen
PERFORMER, PIANIST
Helga Karen (FIN) is a pianist and researcher specialized in performance of classical contemporary music. She has performed as a soloist and chamber music musician in various contemporary music festivals such as Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Lucerne Festival, SoundScape, Musica Nova, ISA2015, Stockhausen Courses and Concerts, Impuls Academy and International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt. Helga has given world premiere performances of works for piano solo and chamber music, as well as played as a member of such orchestras and ensembles as Ensemble Lemniscate, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta and Lucerne Festival Academy. Helga has worked together with such composers as Clara Iannotta, Lisa Streich, Helmut Lachenmann, Rebecca Saunders, Jörg Widmann, Vinko Globokar and Liza Lim.
Helga received her Diploma in piano pedagogy from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, completed her pedagogical studies in Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien and received her Master in Specialized Performance in Contemporary Music Degree from Basel Music Academy in 2016. Currently Helga is working on her doctoral dissertation on Stockhausen’s piano pieces at the Sibelius Academy.

Tuukka Tervo
PERFORMER, ELECTRONICS
Tuukka Tervo (FIN) is a sound engineer and artist based in Helsinki, Finland. His work includes engineering, mixing and producing music recordings, engineering live sound, and performing electronics in a wide variety of genres from rock and jazz to contemporary and classical music. Tervo holds a Masters degree in music technology from Sibelius Academy. His Masters thesis examined the live electronics of Kraft by Magnus Lindberg, which he performed with the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra and soloists conducted by Sakari Oramo in May 2016.
He has performed with the UMUU Ensemble, provided live sound for festivals such as Time of Music and Kallio New Music Days, engineered concerts for acts such as Oddarrang and Jukka Nousiainen, recorded and/or mixed albums for Martti Vesala, Lucy Abrams-Husso, Lithium, Malady, Harri Kuusijärvi & Markus Hohti, Peltomaa Fraanje Perkola, Alder Ego and Aleksi Tuomarila Trio among others.

Iida-Vilhelmiina Sinivalo
PERFORMER, CELLIST
Iida-Vilhemiina Sinivalo (FIN) is a dynamic freelance cellist based in Helsinki, known for her versatility across traditional, contemporary, and experimental music. Currently she works as an artistic doctoral candidate at the DocMus Doctoral School of the Sibelius Academy. A passionate advocate for the expressive potential of the cello, she explores its possibilities in a wide range of genres and styles. Sinivalo frequently premieres new works and collaborates with composers to bring innovative ideas to life. Her performances include solo recitals, chamber music, orchestral engagements, and improvisation, both in Finland and internationally. An open-minded artist, she works across disciplines, collaborating with dancers, actors, visual artists, and musicians from diverse traditions.
Sinivalo plays a Patric Robin cello, generously provided by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. In addition to the acoustic cello, she also performs on related instruments such as the electric cello and campanula.
